Sang Woo Lee 3rd Giving my Opinion

Title: The Greatest Showman
Director: Michael Gracey
Text type: visual(film)
Date read: 25/4/18

Short Summary: The story is about a boy named P.T Barnum. Barnum and his father Philo works for the Hallet family. Charity, who is their daughter is getting closer and closer with Barnum and they start to like each other. When Charity is being sent to finishing school, Barnum tells her that they will never be separated and Philo dies. Barnum and Charity are keep in touch through letters until they meet again as an adulthood, eventually marrying and raising two daughters. They live a humble life; though Charity is happy. Unfortunately, Barnum loses his job and he uses loan to buy ‘Barnum’s American Museum. Then Barnum searches talented “freaks” for the performers of the Barnum’s American Museum.

The reason that I chose this text: It was one of the most impressive movie that I ever watched.

Quote 1:
“You don’t need everyone to love you, just a few good people.”
-Charity Barnum

When P.T Barnum was chasing for praise, his wife, Charity reminds him that he doesn’t need everyone to love him. He just needs a few good people. I think this quote is really good because we wish to be famous and be loved but actually, we don’t need everyone to be loved. Just a few good people such as family, and your friends.

Quote 2:
“I am brave. I am bruised. This is who I’m meant to be. This is me.”
-Lettie Lutz

Lettie is one of the performers of Barnum’s American Museum. This is my favourite quote because it means be yourself and don’t be afraid of other peoples eyes.

The ideas in this movie: Do not judge a book by its cover. For example, no one likes performers of the Barnum’s Museum because they look a bit different to other people, but they have feelings like us and they are talented.

Language feature: Repetition

The songs were repeated as well as its rhythm in this film. Also some lyrics were repeated because it’s important and to make the idea more clear.

This movie can be linked to the real world because our life may succeed but it may lose everything.

Title: We're Going on a Bear Hunt.

Date read: Saturday the 17th of November.

Text type: Picture Book

Author: Michael Rosen

Illustrator: Helen Oxenbury

I chose to read this book because once in a while I get tired of reading the same kind of books and wanted to read something different.

1st Quote: "We can't go over it. We can't go under it. Oh no! We've got to go through it."

Opinion: I think that this is a way of saying that you will have problems in life and sometimes the only thing you can do is push through it.

2nd Quote: "We're not scared"

Opinion: I think that in life it is okay to be scared, but it is good to be brave.

Summary:  It's a beautiful day, a brave family is going on a bear hunt, there not scared. They go through long wavy grass, a deep cold river, thick oozy mud, a big dark forest, a swirling whirling snowstorm, when finally they come across a cave, could this belong to a bear? They tiptoe in when they hear something, it's a bear!
Quick! Back through the cave! Tiptoe! Tiptoe!
Back through the snowstorm! Wooo Hooo! Wooo Hooo!
Back through the forest! Stumble trip! Stumble trip!
Back through the mud! Squelch squerch! Squelch squerch!
Back through the river! Splash splosh! Splash splosh!
Back through the grass! Swishy swashy! Swishy swashy!
Back home and under the blankets. There not going on another bear hunt.

Language feature: Onomatopoeia

"swishy swashy" (when the family is walking through the long grass).
Onomatopoeia helps the reader to have a better idea of what is happening in the book and helps you create a
clearer picture in your head.

It is linked to the world in a few ways:
1. In the book a family is going on an adventure and in the world people go on adventures with their families
too.
2. In the book there is a snowstorms and in the world there are also snowstorms.

I enjoyed this book and I think you will too. ❤👍

Giving my opinion

Short Summary: Viola is a 14 year old girl who is born with Xeroderma pigmentosum (XP) which means that sunlight is deadly to her. She lives on a farm outside of Ashburton and one night she is running through the forestry at night time, the only time she can go outside, and she comes upon something she shouldn’t. A man, Geoff Harris, is lighting a car on fire with a man in it and then Geoff buries $1,000,000 million dollars in the ground. Viola goes and digs up the money then sends it to her parents anonymously so they can pay of the mortgage on the farm. But one night Viola is tailing lambs and she looks over and see Geoff Harris watching her. Later in the story Geoff kidnaps Viola and and forces her to tell him were she has kept the money or he will make her sit in the sunlight. But thanks to a sow (female pig) with a piglet who charges at Geoff and makes him fall down a cliff into a river Viola is safe.

Why I chose this text: It was a stand alone story which is really good to write about because it will not end in a cliffhanger. But if I had already read this book I would have chosen it for this category because it has so many different points of view in the story that you can look at and it is such an amazing book written with passion

Quote: A quote in this text that I really like is at the end of the book when it says “I think a spotlight will be okay”. Even though this is not a big part of the story I thought that that was a good way to end the book because it shows us the viola is coming out of her shell and making what is left of her life count as she does not know how long she will live.

Quote: “I am my father's daughter” is another quote in this story that I think is not a big part in the story line but is just a interesting sentence. I think this because Viola to us is not, as we may view it, a normal human and this condition she has makes her sound like an alien. But to her she is, like she said, her father’s daughter and even though she knows that she is a bit weird she is still a 14 year old living a life.

Ideas in this text: An idea in this text that I think is really big is to keep on going even if things get hard. Viola had such a tough life with XP and when it was made even worse by seeing Geoff Harris murder another person it would have been so easy for her to give up. Yet she persisted and she defeated Geoff, if you can call it that, and she made so much progress in her emotional life. She is now more open and this was all because she kept on going and never gave up on herself or others.

Langue features: In this story the author has told the story in first person which is a really clever way of writing a story that has quite a lot of emotions or opinions. For example, Viola does not know what to do with the $1,000,000 that she has come across until she realises that she should give it to her parents. Using first person we can clearly see what Viola is thinking and how she is feeling.

Links: This story could just be linked to the children who have XP and what they go through. Even though Viola in in a position where she has a house and curtains to protect her from the sun others do not and it is really sad to think that kids with this condition have to go through with it.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child
Written by: J.K Rowling, John Tiffany, Jack Thorne
Read: October 25

This book continues on from the original Harry Potter series. Harry is no longer at Hogwarts, he has grown up now and works at the Ministry of Magic. He is still great friends with Hermione and Ron and is Married to Ginny. Harry has three great children called James Sirius, Albus Severus, and Lily Luna. Albus is the main character/son, kind of like Harry. He struggles with his families legacy at Hogwarts, and doesn't no what to do with all that weight on his shoulders. Both Harry and Albus learn things they have never known before and a lot of surprises hits them both!

I chose this book because I have always loved the Harry Potter series and storyline through it. This series is always getting better and the characters are all so unique.  My Dad had recommended the first couple of books and I instantly fell in love with them.

My favourite quotes from the book are "Albus Severus, you were named after two headmasters at Hogwarts. One of them was a Slytherin and he was probably the bravest man I ever knew." This is one of my favourite quotes said by Harry because it is telling you not to judge a book by it's cover. This may be him referring to himself, because when Harry first started at Hogwarts he thought Snape  was nasty without really meeting him, but when he new everything he learnt how sweet and how protecting he really was. Another one of my favourite quotes was "Big. Wonderful. Full of food. I'd give anything to be going back there." In this text Ron is referring to Hogwarts and how amazing it was, and that they would go back there is heart beat. I think this is really sweet and makes the reader think back to the other books.

This text is telling you to not let anything put you down and to continue on trying or you will never get anywhere.

This book has a lot of things referring back to the other books which I personally like. It makes you remember everything that happened and lets the story flow better too.

Obviously I can link this book to the other Harry Potter books, mainly because many of the things that happens in this book connects with what had previously happened in the other/past books.

Giving my opinion Fortnite

Fortnite is possibly the most popular game in the world right now. Personally I play it a lot, I started playing this year and I haven't stopped playing since. it is a addictive game. I chose this game because it is a popular game with a estimate of 80 million people playing in august 2018. If you don’t know what fortnite is it is a 100 player battle royal game. In this game you collect guns and materials to eliminate opponents to get to the top of the royal. The one thing that Epic put in that everyone wants is vbucks and the battle pass. If you don’t know what vbucks are they are in game currency and the battle pass is something where you can tier up and get cool skins, emotes, back blings and more. Epic games made like everyone needs skins and vbucks when really it will be a waste of money because you won’t be playing fortnite in a year. Everyone who plays the game would know someone or you are this person that rages everyday people rage quit because they die or they lag then they die.. This game getting everyone addictive and epic games are making a lot of money from fortnite because we think that we need all these skins and vbucks. Things that everyone says before there game is "where are we dropping boys" or "lets get a dub boys" people use similes and onomatopoeia like describing players to nba players when they coby's a grenade into a opponents building. fortnite links to war and battles. That was my giving my opinion on fortnite.

Title: Lyla
Author: Fleur Beale

Short summary: Lyla has started her second year of high school when a magnitude 6.3 earthquake hits Christchurch. While Lyla's mum and dad are helping out with the mess, Lyla opens up her home to all the neighbours and was leading the community clean up.

Explain why you chose this text: Because this is a very interesting story because it actually happened,  and it also makes you appreciate what you have

A quote and opinion of it: This time the noise and shaking seemed to go on forever. 15 seconds felt like 15 years. And when it did stop we were in an alien place full of chaos

Discussion of the ideas in the text: I think that this story is trying to get the message across that some people have life so easy compared to other people. And that the world isn't perfect, and that even though that you feel like all the bad things are happening to you, that you are not the only one. e.g When Christchurch was in the middle of the earthquake, Japan had just also had an earthquake but also a tsunami.

Link the text to other text, the world, you life- The world, because so many places have earthquakes like the one in Japan or even the one that happened in Kathmandu

Giving my opinion.

Gangsta Granny: By David Walliams
I chose this book because from what I have heard and red David Walliams is really funny. This book is a action packed comedy with family troubles and more.

A boy named Ben goes to his granny's house every week and everytime she is SUPER boring she reeks of cabbage and plays Scramble and that's all she is, or so he thinks. He finds his granny "Robbing" the jewelry store, granny turns out to be a international Jewel thief and Ben is about to help her do the crime of the century, stealing the Crown Jewels but granny won't let him. Ben one day finds in his Plumbing Weekly magazine (Ben's favorite magazine) finds that there is way to sneak into the Crowns Jewels tower and tells granny about this, she finally agrees to do this as long as they put them back the next day. With this grannies nosey neighbour Mr Parker is trying to prove that she is a jewel thief but she is to smart for him and he can't find any proof.

Along with this ben has some family troubles he wants to be a plumber while his parents want him to be a dancer, they are addicted with dancing and just so granny doesn't get ratted out he has to claim he's dancing when he goes to granny's house and now he's stuck doing a dance tournament in front of his mom's favorite dancing.  If you like comedy robbery and cabbages this is the right book for you.

There are two quote in this a really like such as "I was also young once" this is because it tells the message of respecting your elders also the other one I like"Take them away, lock them up and throw away the key" I like this one because it's another way to say lock them up forever so I like the way of the language that David, along with that subject I like the comedy and the cliffhanger affect that David puts in because it puts a lot more action and laughs into it.The way that this story is told is a way of narration so it makes it feel like you are reading it from a report or something under the lines of that. This story links with not judging people by who YOU think they are.

The war that saved my life Written by: Kimberly Brubaker Bradley Ada had been stuck up in a small apartment all her life because her mum was ashamed of her own daughter's foot. Suddenly her whole life completely changes. A war began to come to Ada's town. It kept getting worse and worse that one day every child was told they have to evacuate the town. Ada's mum told told her that she couldn't leave with with her brother because she was too embarrassed with Ada's foot. On the day that the children evacuated Ada told her brother Jamie how she was going to evacuate with him. Next thing they knew was that they are going to be living with someone else until the war was over which isn't certain that is going to be any time soon. Ada is now a whole other person, with a whole other life. I didn't exactly choose this book, a friend of mine recommended it to me. I don't think I would of picked it out for myself if I saw it on a book shelf, but I am happy that it got pointed out to me. Quote: "I wanted to say a lot, but, as usual I didn't have the words for the thoughts inside my head." - I thought this was a really good quote because it shows that not many people have such a good education as us and how much some people struggle. Quote: Then I did what I should have done at the start. I thought myself to walk. - This quote is kind of sad because Ada is realising she could of done simple things and her foot wouldn't be as bad. Discussion of ideas: Not everyone gets as much love and education as others. Also that a lot of us don't have things that affect your whole life like for example, Ada has club foot that that she is going to be stuck with all her life. In the book it also talks about war which is something that has happened. Links to the text: I think that this text links to the war, It also tells us about how much people struggled in the war. Giving my opinion
Pudsey, My autobidography.
Date Read: 25th to the 27th

This book is about a dog called Pudsey with big dreams.
It shows the life of a dog who stresses about finding a home and when he does,
is to scared to follow his dream, which is to dance. When he finally gets up the courage
to do so, it shows of his way to stardom, fame and eventually winning britain's got talent.
Of course he can’t do it without his friends Brad the cat, the guinea pigs, his Mum and his
beloved owner Ashleigh.
As you read along with the fun loving characters you can’t help but falling into
the story too.

I chose this text because I wanted a fun and humorous read which is exactly what this
book is. Also it involves lots of animals, bad jokes and laughs,
which is exactly what most books need!

Quote 1:
“What happens when you stop chasing your tail and start chasing your dreams?”
-Pudsey

My opinion:
I think that this is a subtle way of telling the reader that if you get a chance to follow
your dreams, do. Never stop believing and working hard, it never
hurts anybody. I like this quote because it focuses on the positive things and inspires
you to work harder.

Quote 2:

For I had found my special place at last. After so much searching,
I didn’t need to call upon my imagination for somewhere I could go when
things go tough. This was very really and available to me at anytime. -Pudsey

My Opinion:

I think that this is his way of saying everyone needs that special place where they feel safe.
Somewhere that they can relax, be themselves and feel safe and at home.
I also think it’s a fantastic way of ending this book by making the reader relate to
themselves.

I think a message this text is trying to convey is to follow your dreams,
because anything is possible if you keep trying and believing in yourself.
Stay around positive people who can help you achieve your dream, have fun and
work hard!

Language feature:

-Onomatopoeia/repetition
“Thud, thud, thud.” (Pudsey falling down the stairs)
The impact on the reader is the repetition which makes the point stronger and
seem more important and the words “Thud, thud, thud,” help you to imagine the
noise and create the picture in your mind.

This text can be linked to the book “a dog called homeless,” because it’s about a dog that influences the lives of people around him.
It can also be linked to the world by the fact all the characters are so different and diverse, there are some nice people and some not.

To sum up, I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and I hope that you will too.

Giving my opinion. LM REVIEW.

TRASH / BY ANDY MULLIGAN / NOVEL / DATE READ / 27 OCT / 2018 /

Recently I have read the book Trash by Andy Mulligan. I did not actually chose this text, my Mum     did. I was given this book around the time this reading project came about. So I decided to do my giving my opinion studie on this book. At first I was a bit sceptical about this book, but after the first chapter I was hooked.

The book is  set somewhere in India is a rubbish dump where lots of people live. During the day most of them search through the piles of garbage looking for things they can sell. But this story is around two boys who find something while searching through rubbish. And It gets them in a lot of trouble.

After reading this book it was fair to say that I enjoyed very much. It was a real nail biter and had you on the edge of your seat. And it also brought up some strong ideas hidden deep within the text itself.
''You never know what you'll find'' Quote from the book.

The ideas in the text paint a clear image of what some conditions children are living in today, lots of poverty and not enough food to go around adds to the bigger picture. Another idea in this book displays the lack of toilets in india as most of the trash bags in the dump contain paper that's been peed on because people can't find or afford toilets.

The book text features a array of language features. To start, this book tells the story from a wide range of characters each with a large range of different opinions and thoughts. Then throughout the book it adds describes each detail precisely and engages the reader deeper you enter the chapters.

I think this book is mainly linked to today's society and problems. When I read this I could link it to a lot of today's poverty problems and not enough money to go around. I have learnt a lot more about the current situation, Good read I really enjoyed highly recommend it.

Poem Review (Drinking Alone Under the Moon)

LI Bai – Drinking Alone Under the Moon poem In amongst flowers with a bottle of wine I drink alone for there is no one close by. I raise my chalice to invite the shining moon, The moon casts me a shadow and we have a triad. The moon never learns to drink, My shadow absent-mindedly follows me. Nevertheless I have them around me, Moments should be enjoyed as they be. I sing and the moon lingers, I dance and my shadow whirled under. In my sober moments we rejoiced together, Once I am drunk, it is a company no longer. Such fellowship shall endure despite our parted ways, Only heaven knows when we shall come together again. Li Bai's poem describes how he drank alone in the garden in the evenings. This is a very famous poem in China. It writes lively but contrasts the author's loneliness. Its translation is acceptable, so I used it. The author uses personified rhetoric to describe his drinking with the shadow and the moon, and he writes about his feeling of being sorry for them. But this has highlighted the word "independence" in the title. What attracted me to this poem is "The moon casts me a shadow and we have a triad.". Perhaps the loneliness and tenacity of this sentence have touched me. This poem is written by poets, who spend their time alone in the moonlight night. The poet uses rich imagination to show a complex feeling from loneliness to non-loneliness, and then from non-loneliness to loneliness. This poem fully expresses Li Bai's generosity and the mind of mind. It is a masterpiece of Li Bai's lyric poetry. The first poem deals with a lonely and sad feeling created by a political disappointment. In the poem, the lonely environment is rendered very lively. It is not only vivid, but also expresses the poet's broad-minded personality and emotion. The background of the poem is between flowers, the props are a pot of wine, the characters are only himself, the action is a solo drink, plus the "no blind date" three words, the scene is very monotonous. So the poet suddenly fancied that the bright moon on the horizon, and his shadow under the moonlight, pulled over, including himself, into three people, raised a glass to drink together, the cold scene, suddenly feel lively. However, when the moon does not drink, the shadow will continue to be lonely. Therefore, from fifth sentences to eighth sentences, we will discuss from the moon shadow and point out the meaning of "pleasure and spring". The last six sentences are the third paragraph, which describes the poet's persistent and relentless journey with the moonlight and shadow, and his reunion in the heavenly wonderland of Maoyuan. The poet uses abundant imagination to show a kind of complex emotion, which is from alone to alone, from not alone to alone, and then from alone to not alone. The whole poem in the form of monologue, self-reliance, self-reliance, poetic ups and downs and pure nature, so has been passed down for future generations. His poems are mainly lyric, displaying the arrogant spirit of disdaining power and nobility, showing sympathy for the people's suffering, and being good at describing natural scenery and expressing love for the mountains and rivers of the motherland. The style of poetry is bold and bold, imaginative, natural and harmonious. Be good at drawing nutrition and material from folk literature and art and myth and legend, constitute its unique magnificent and gorgeous color. Li Bai is the greatest Romantic poet with unique characteristics after Qu Yuan, reaching the peak of Tang poetry art. It has the reputation of "poetry immortal" and it is also called "Li du" with Du Fu. There are more than 1000 poems and articles in the world. There are 30 volumes of Li Tai Bai Ji. [2]In addition, this poem has been included in the Chinese textbooks in Shanghai, which is helpful to our students'writing.

A short story. My opinion

Author:MARC CHERNOFF
DATE: 24,10,2018

This short story is called The Weight Of The Glass. In this story a psychology professor talks to people about stress. She tells them that the more you hold on to worries the worse they get. She tells them this using a simile. She explains this using a cup. She shows them that the weight of the cup is quite light but the longer she holds it the heavier it gets even though the actual weight stays the same. I find this very true. Lots of people can make a big deal out of things even when they are very small. Sometimes people need to just relax and take a moment. I found that the way the the professor explained the story was every interesting. I chose this story because I wanted an story with a meaning and moral.

A quote that I find matches this story very well is: A pessimist is one who makes difficulties of is opportunities and an oppermist is one who makes opportunities of his difficulties. This quote in my opinion shows that people can make things difficult that are actually good things.

Another quote about this passage is one that many may have heard about. Some people see the glass half empty, some people see the the glass half full and some are just grateful to see a glass. In my opinion this quote tells about how depending if someone is more wealthy than another the they see things differently.

Short story review (Hospital window)

This storey is very eye opening because it proves that amagination can be a lifeline to some people and the fact that the blind man had the heart to shear his imagination with his room mate to make him feel better is so selfless and kind. My favorite part of the text was when the blind man died and his friend asked if he could get the bed by the wall and look out the window the nurse said yes and to his amazement he saw a plain brick wall. The moral of this storey is that their is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations.

descriptive writing T3 W7

The trees roots are like a dress whisking the bottom of the ground. Roots quietly reach out to the murky to feast on the water, that stops them from rotting. Dark cold shadows cover parts of the dying tree, slowly devouring it to dust. The sunlight jumps through the gaps of the tree like it is a frog. The light fog is as wet as a morning dew. All living creatures hide from the devilish wind and rain, whatever is conquered is sucked back down natures throat.

Josef Gillgren descriptive writing T3 W8

The sun shines on a river that has the appearance of a mirror with flecks of paint on it. Directly to the sides of the beautiful river. Where the sun doesn’t shine, the trees are a mess of mangled, twisted vines. As if the trees themselves were crying out in agony. The rivers on the sides look like a pits of tar and mist that wait for unwitting walkers to fall into it’s slimy clutches. The tree on the right side has splashes of baby blue, black , orange and yellow on it. In the background is a sea of greenery with gargantuan trees that seem to reach out into the cloudless, sunny , blue sky.

Nuo Descriptive Writing T3 W7

Walking on the rough road, the soil beneath is moist. Suddenly, I stopped. What I saw was stagnant water. The water was dirty and there was some duckweed. Without the duckweed, the water reflected the scene on the shore. The surrounding roots were thick and intertwined, and there was some algae hanging on them, which seemed a little frightening. The stalagmites on the ground are uneven, like shrinking peaks. Leaves rustle and sunlight falls through the gaps between the leaves, causing evaporation of water on the ground to form water vapor, adding a bit of mystery to the scene. The moss, which was dry on the trunk, was red, like a coat for the trees.

Week 7 Descriptive Writing

The bright happy sunlight struggles to find its way through the thick tree tops of the quiet forest. The delicate mirror like leaves deflect all the light leaving most of the dense forest in a dark shade of gray. There are a few patches of sunlight where the undergrowth grows thick, but most of the landscape is covered in a thick brewing swamp. The vines rap around the trees like snakes trying to strangle someone, making the trees weak. The tree roots are fingers, reaching out entwining with others, helping each other stand tall. Alone they feel small and weak. As one they feel safe and strong.

Descriptive writing week 7

The light grasps through the towering trees desperate to infect the darker gloomier depths of the forest. Bad things lurk in the midst of the twisted roots that reach out like arms clinging on to anything they feel. Some would say it’s magical, others would say it will slowly kill those brave enough to enter. This forest is an ideal spot for ambushers. Everything looks the same, everything's the same. You will be lost in minutes. Some parts of the forest are inviting, golden light seeps through the leafs. However, the back should anyone go there will never come back alive.

Emma Descriptive Writing T2 W7

As the warm sunlight rises over the magical forest, the flowers begin to spread open their petals, as they slowly wake up. The water shimmers like thousands of stars, as the light hits it's surface. Insects filling the clear air, searching for a feed, trees towering over the forest like clouds covering the sun from earth. Animals instantly coming out of their homes, ready to start another day in paradise, as the world around them awakens. The trees rapping each others arms together becoming one, as they know it's time to bloom their decorations.

the lighthouse

The enormous waves thrash against the lighthouse like a lion that want its food. The brick structure forhold the beating that its put up against. The lighthouse stands strong as the blast of icy cold hits the structure. lighting strikes in the distances

Descriptive Writing

It was a stormy night, located in the middle of the ocean a lighthouse was seen. Thunderstruck as the waves crashed against the lighthouse like a cheetah eating its prey. The ocean was dancing around like a volcano ready to erupt. Freshly picked blueberries was the colour of  the ocean and the lighthouse was as dark as bark on a tree. It was so scary out there, almost like being alone in the woods at night. To make it worse the lighthouse was humongous, it was as tall as the sky tower, to my surprised it didn't get knocked down. Through the cold and dreadful night the lighthouse stood tall, like a soldier serving it's country.

descriptive piece Lucas M

The storm was brewing like witches spell. The lighthouse keepers had no connection to the mainland. The first wave hits like an earthquake. Giant waves were cheaters chasing and pouncing on its prey. As waves danced as the thunder were drum sticks on drums. The light from the lighthouse was a sign for help.

Clouds have taken over, there is no happiness left in the sky. Every time the sea's heart pumps it sends a powerful throb of angry waves. The waves smack against the already saturated building, making it seem old and weak.

Description writing

The waves crashed violently against the rough brick wall. The clouds curiously hovering as far as can be seen. Thunder threatening the stability of the abandoned lighthouse. The wind just adding to the strength of the wave. Suddenly the lighthouse gives up. It falls into the welcoming deep dark sea. Nothing to be seen. Nothing to be heard.  Nothing to be found.

Charlotte Descriptive Writing

My exhausted feet ached as I climbed the last steps of the metre high lighthouse. The constant waves could be heard yelling at me through the old brick walls. As I looked out the sea sprayed windows I could see and hear an angry storm that was kilometers away. Suddenly, a sound as loud as a trumpet gave me a massive fright knocking me down to the hard, water soaked ground. I pulled my weak body up high enough just in time to see the remnants of the ginormous wave of water that had hit the old concrete tower that still stood strong. I slide down to the cold walled preparing my worn out mind for a ruff night.

The somber, grey bricks grandly complemented the whirlwind ocean. They crashed and broke like grass around the momentous structure, that seemed sturdy and suttle from the blind eye.
Breathtakingly the bleached blue monstrosities of water fell like ivy around the looming tower, which matched whole to the fellow sky. Grey, black and navy clouds surrounded the chaos as if a bystander of a crime. Ungracefully, the ocean portrayed the idea it was alive and breathing, creating and displaying horrid emotion by spitting and spluttering. No ongoing hope was shown for the lights had blown, bleak and unhopeful guiding no way for sole travelers.

Storm Rage

The dark dull waves cascaded  onto the sharp rocks, shattering the deep tide. Relentless weather sent a big  white tip  high into the air and slammed it down upon the unfortunate structure. Bulky waves brewed in the heart of the downpour. Murky brume surrounded the light house and it was all over within a matter of seconds.

Emma T3 W6

Dark, blue thick clouds surrounded the weak brick lighthouse, as huge powerful waves smashed into its sides, making piece of bricks shatter into the monster sea. The dark dangerous ocean became strong and treacherous rips formed all around the lonely lighthouse. Suddenly the waves were like tsunamis, the thunder began to roar like thousands of lions, and the lighthouse could not fight back and collapsed.

the waves rise up from the ruff sea looking to consumes its next victim. The waves wrap around the jigidy old lighthouse like a blanket. It struggles to stand up the visions uncontrollable waves are too much. They are nearly at the top.

Descriptive writing Maia

The angry, swirling sea spiraled up around me. Waves clash against the solid brick wall, sounding like a bell ringing inside my head. Looking out of my window all I can see is dark stormy clouds heading towards me. It gives the lighthouse an ominous feeling. Shivers run down my spine like spiders squirming. I can feel my heart pounding as another surge of waves heads to the isolated lighthouse. I peer outside and see the waves chopping and churning, making my stomach feel nauseated. Suddenly BANG. The wave hitting the lighthouse jolts everything. Then silence...

"The" Lighthouse

The waves are as ginormous as mountains, whitewater gushing around the black concrete lighthouse. Dark puffy clouds swarming above, darkness rolls around the lighthouse. Windows as tiny as mice. The tower creaking as the waves roll over, testing the stability of the structure. Splitting concrete. Slowly crushing the black tower.

Descriptive writing

I was on the rim of death because of a stupid radar failure. A category 5 storm danced its was over to my lighthouse without the radar picking it up. Now I had nowhere to go my larger than life dinghy was sucked away like a pea and the killer giant waves were still rolling in. I heard the old beauty that I had been working in for over 20 years start to crack than one fierce wave finished her and I.

Descriptive writing W6 T3 Harry

The wave wrenches back and strikes out at the innocent erect tower. It is a beast enveloping the lighthouse in it's massive mouth before cowering back into it's home regaining strength to attack again. The dark clouds roll over the shaken landscape of which the lighthouse stands on, as if it were a warning for the weather to come. The lighthouse is a castle standing strong against the everlasting siege. It is alone in the violent desert of blue. A lone tower. A lone wolf. A lone warrior.

The skies are dark. In the middle of the sea, there is  alonely - looking light house. Behind the light house, masive storms are coming. We were walking down the street, the nerves were rushing through my system. It was Gemma's and I first time selling Girl Scout cookies. We started
contemplating on what house to go to. We decided on the pink house, right beside a river. We walked up the stairs to their house and knocked on the
door waiting for someone to come, there was no response. Just as we were about to leave the door opened.
“Hi!” I said. “Would you like some cookies we cooked?” I asked.
“I would love some!” she exclaimed.
“Yay!” Now why was I nervous again?

100 Words, Week 6.

I don't think I have ever been so nervous before.

It was my first day at Southwell. Somehow I felt as if I had fallen down a few hundred flights of stairs.
Once I arrived in class, all of my queer ideas floated away. Everyone appeared so open to the idea of me being there. Soon enough I was informed about Chapel. I did struggle to understand, but I went with the river. I believed I was safe until I was called up for a school emblem. In front of 600 pairs of prying eyes, I felt like an undercooked, neon pink Salmon.

"Hurry up," I screeched from the bottom of the old stairs to my slightly older brother Nate. Tonight we were going into the forest! I was excited but slightly nervous too. A few hours later we were sitting down by the raging fire, eating cooked fish we'd caught from up at the nearby river. I took in a breath of fresh air, glancing up and instantly gasped. The sky was a stunning pink colour! Mezmerised I called for Nate to have a look. Together we sat just watching the sky. I certainly wasn't going to forget this in a hurry!

Time is up, I go downstairs and come to the steamer. The steam lifted the lid of the pot and made a metal crash. It's time to see what I have done. I closed the fire, uncovered the lid of the pot, and a fragrance filled my face. A beautiful bowl of stewed eggs in front of me. The cooked shrimp is pink, which is caught by a friend in a nearby river. I nervously scooped up a spoonful of stewed eggs and put them in my mouth. The entrance of the stewed eggs melted with the fresh aroma of shrimp, which was satisfying.

I couldn't believe it I had won the international no entries online lottery. I had given all my bank account info and paid the small fee of two hundred thousand dollars, then all I had to do was wait. I waited for weeks, months; until one day I received a letter in the mail saying “your a wiener.” I excitedly opened the letter ignoring the misspelling of winner .As I read the contents of the letter I was aware of the smile on my face. But when the sixtieth grammatical mistake was made I realized that it was a scam.

It was 1968. The car pulled up to the driveway and I hopped out. Work had been getting worse and worse as it went on. I was in debt to a lot of people for doing some bad stuff but that's another story. Anyway, just a couple of days ago I had spent the rest of my money on the lottery. I went over to my letterbox and for the first time in a while I had mail. As I read the contents of the mail I was aware of the smile on my face. I had won the lottery!

100 Words, Week Five,

You're kidding me, right? I mentioned in disbelief, as I faced my associate whom simply shrugged and replied, "That's what I said." I paused.
"Of coursed she'd be there." I cringed, yet as I read the contents of the letter, I was aware of the smile on my face. It was my fault she was there, stuck on an island in the Bahamas. Only then did I realize how guilty I felt from buying her a one-way ticket. I was briefly cut short by my associate who was laughing at my demented expressions, I scorned as he said. "It's your fault, isn't it?"

“Merry Christmas, sweetie.” My mom gave me a hug.
“You too.” Our family had quick breakfast and seated near the Christmas tree. There was lots of presents with a Christmas card. As I read the contents of the letter, I was aware of the smile on my face. Then I started to opening my presents.

I quickly head to the underground bunker where it would be safe. I was smashed against the wall hard and my vision turned black. I could not see anything until i woke up.

I raced inside and tore open the moldy letter, as I read the contents of the letter, I was aware of the smile on my pale face, as I soaked in the words my dad had wrote. When I saw the last words " I'm coming home my love, from your dearest father." And that's when the wet tears hit me.
